Geographical Boundary

Introduction

The data source covers all of Great Britain. This is the British Isles minus Ireland (North and South) and the Isle of Man.

Great Britain is made up of three countries, each subdivided differently.

OpenLayers

The Ordnance Survey is responsible for mapping Great Britain, so their Boundary-Line™ product is a foundational layer in this app.
Here the download (2024-06) was reformatted by GDAL from a single GeoPackage to multiple PostgreSQL/PostGIS tables.

Boundary-LineContains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2024.

One category of boundary not included in the OS collection is the Watsonian Vice County. The dataset used in this app comes from the NBN.
It helps define the recording areas of Argyll and Fife (which are Scottish), and the Isle of Man (which is non-GB).
